MULTIPLE REFRIGERANT CIRCUITS
Lighstream Scroll chillers incorporate scroll compressors in tandem configuration, which offer part-load efficiency and increased load-matching capabilities, together with quiet operation and diagnostic capabilities, and enable two-stage capacity by running compressors individually or simultaneously.
Lightstream's refrigerant side consists of one to four gas circuits - depending on unit capacity, each equipped with electronic expansion valve (EEV) to ensure optimum system efficiency.
Depending on requirements, customers can choose from partial or total heat recovery features installed on each gas circuit.
BRAZED PLATE HEAT EXCHANGERS
Lighstream Scroll chillers feature either brazed plate or shell-and-tube heat exchangers, depending on unit capacity and end-customer preference.
Brazed plate heat exchangers provide optimal heat transfer efficiency, pressure resistance and longest possible service lifetime, guaranteed by their advanced design.
SHELL-AND-TUBE HEAT EXCHANGERS
Shell-and-tube heat exchangers with an innovative refrigerant distributor and optimized plastic baffles are designed to improve the waterside heat transfer performance.
The tubes have a specific inner-grooved pattern to maximize the heat transfer coefficient and to limit the pressure drop negative effects.
ELECTRONIC EXPANSION VALVES
Accurate control of superheat with the Lightstream scroll chiller operating at part load achieved with electronic expansion valves. Fitting EEV allows the reduction of power consumption by up to 30% by controlling refrigerant flow at reduced head pressures.
The EEV used in Lightstream Scroll chillers are new generation valves designed for precise liquid injection into an evaporator and include a balanced cage and slider assembly operated by direct driven motor technology. This ensures solenoid-tight shut-off in both flow directions, providing a smooth operation of the system.
The valve incorporates a powerful bi-polar motor which precisely controls flow regulation.

All-aluminium microchannel condensing coils used in the Lighstream Scroll chiller family permit numerous benefits, including low airside pressure drops, higher heat transfer rate, and closer approach temperatures.
The result is up to 40% higher energy efficiency in comparison to fin/tube coil design. Smaller surface area, thin coil design, up to 50% less weight, and less refrigerant charge translates to lower cost.
Due to the all-aluminium construction, microchannel condensing coils are subject to significantly less galvanic corrosion than the traditional fin/tube design, in that there are no dissimilar metals.
EC-TYPE FANS WITH REDUCED POWER CONSUMPTION
Lighstream Scroll’s new generation fan system not only reduces power consumption by up to 30% while managing the extraordinarily high volume flows but it also works at significantly reduced operating noise levels.
The smart fan system includes unique fans with the bionic wing concept, the most advanced EC motor technology, and multifunctional air diffusers, resulting in economic efficiency for customers.
EC motor technology not only produces savings in full-load operation - it is exactly when operating under partial load that EC motors lose much less of their efficiency.
