LATEST SCREW COMPRESSOR TECHNOLOGY
Lightstream Screw chillers feature compact semi-hermetic screw compressors are distinguished by a further improvement in energy efficiency at full and part load conditions. Moreover, the application limits have been substantially extended towards low condensing temperatures as well as to high pressure ratios – without compromises regarding operating reliability.
As a result, these compressors exceed the international efficiency standard of compact screws with respect to the seasonally weighted energy requirements to an even higher degree than before. This results in particularly high ESEER/IPLV and SCOP values.
The cooling capacity of the compressor is controlled by a slider which allows an adaptation of the compressor displacement to the power requirement by shifting the start of the compression process through axial movements of the control slider. The slider, starting from the full load position (100%) can be positioned to nominal 75%, 50%, and 25%.

All-aluminium microchannel condensing coils used in Lighstream Screw chillers allows a number of benefits, including low airside pressure drops, higher heat transfer rate, and closer approach temperatures.
The end result is up to 40% higher energy efficiency in comparison to fin/tube coil design. Smaller coil surface area, thin design, up to 50% less weight, and less refrigerant charge result in a lower cost.
Based on the all-aluminium construction, microchannel condensing coils are subject to significantly less galvanic corrosion than traditional fin/tube design, in that there are no dissimilar metals.
EC-TYPE FANS WITH REDUCED POWER CONSUMPTION
Lightstream Screw’s new intelligent fan system consisting of the profiled, sickle-shaped axial fans, multifunctional air guide vanes, and diffusers - provides maximum flexibility, lowest possible sound emission and highest energy efficiency.
Modern EC motor technology not only produces savings in full-load operation - it is exactly when operating under partial load that electronically commutated motors lose much less of their efficiency.
EC motor controls features thermal management and fan frost protection ensures stable operation under extreme ambient conditions.
GENERATES ENERGY SAVINGS ALL YEAR ROUND
The flooded evaporator used in Lightstream Screw chillers enables operation at the higher saturated evaporating temperature when compared to many other types of evaporators and allows a higher cooling capacity to be achieved with correspondingly higher efficiency.
The refrigerant pool in the shell acts as a flywheel, allowing the controls of the flooded evaporator to successfully track the varying load of a batch process. In order to avoid preferential flows, Lightstream’s evaporators have optimized tube geometry, ensuring optimal refrigerant distribution.
