Inverter screw compressors
The compact frequency-controlled screw compressors of Lightstream Screw Inverter chillers are particularly suitable for systems that are frequently operated under part-load.
These compressors also achieve impressively high full-load efficiency and significantly improved ESEER/IPLV and SCOP values. With an average ESEER value above 5.5, Lighstream Screw chillers are setting new benchmarks in the industry.
The compressor monitors its own application limits and communicates via Modbus with the master system controls. The integrated data log can be used at any time to analyze operation over the running time and optimize the system settings.

Lightstream Screw’s new intelligent fan system consisting of the profiled, sickle-shaped axial fans, multifunctional air guide vanes, and diffusers - provides maximum flexibility, lowest possible sound emission and highest energy efficiency.
Modern EC motor technology not only produces savings in full-load operation - it is exactly when operating under partial load that electronically commutated motors lose much less of their efficiency.
EC motor controls features thermal management and fan frost protection ensures stable operation in extreme ambient conditions.
GENERATES ENERGY SAVINGS ALL YEAR ROUND
The flooded evaporator used in Lightstream Screw Inverter chillers enables operation at the higher saturated evaporating temperature when compared to many other evaporator types and allows a higher cooling capacity to be achieved with correspondingly higher degree of efficiency.
The refrigerant pool in the shell behaves as a flywheel, allowing the controls of the flooded evaporator to successfully track the varying load of a batch process. In order to avoid preferential flows, Lightstream’s evaporators have optimized tube geometry, ensuring optimal refrigerant distribution.

All-aluminium microchannel condensing coils used in Lighstream Screw Inverter chillers allows achieving the number of advantages, including low airside pressure drops, higher heat transfer rate, and closer approach temperatures.
The end result is up to 40% higher energy efficiency in comparison to fin/tube coil design. Smaller coil surface area, thin design, up to 50% less weight, and less refrigerant charge translates to lower cost.
Due to the all-aluminium construction, microchannel condensing coils are subject to significantly less galvanic corrosion than traditional fin/tube design, in that there are no dissimilar metals.

ENVIRONMENT-FRIENDLY REFRIGERANT WITH LOW GLOBAL WARMING POTENTIAL
The proposed phase-down of HFC refrigerants has prompted an assessment of alternative fluids for a wide range of applications, including medium-temperature air-cooled chillers.
Recently developed R1234ze refrigerant features low global warming potential and zero ozone depletion potential and fulfils EU regulatory requirements for reducing the use of high global warming potential (GWP) substances. At the same time, R1234ze almost exactly matches the efficiency of R134a.
