Air-cooled condenser

Low-charge air-cooled condensers for use with low-GWP refrigerants

Kaltra is now taking one step further by introducing the new flatbed, low-charge air-cooled condensers for use with low-GWP refrigerants, including R449a, R454a, and R454c.

To meet market requirements to reduce global warming potential and increase the energy efficiency of cooling equipment, Kaltra has engineered a new line of air-cooled condensers with market-leading features at reasonable initial and running costs.

Key Advantages

  • Focused on using with the new generation of low-GWP refrigerants
  • Optimized airflow, heat transfer and EC fans technology to increase energy efficiency
  • Adapted to a significant reduction of refrigerant charges
  • Designed to minimize footprint, to be light and rigid
  • Engineered for high versatility in applications and environmental conditions
  • Equipped with the latest generations of microchannel coils, fans and other standard and optional components
  • Fully prepared for Ecodesign compliance

General Characteristics

  • Brand new midsize condensers with the capacities ranging from 10 to 150kW
  • 48 models in 12 unit sizes to suit necessary capacity requirements
  • Optimized to use with the low-GWP refrigerants R449a, R454a, and R454c; suitable for conventional R407c and high-pressure R410a and R32 refrigerants; CO2, propane, NH3, and others – upon request

Areas Of Applications

Due to its remarkable technical advantages, Borrum series condensers are suitable to be introduced as an efficient, reliable and cost-effective solution to almost all modern air conditioning and cooling systems for industrial and commercial use. Condensers can be effectively used as replacing parts for existing systems which need to be improved in respect of lifetime, capacity, running costs, reliability or due to environmental protection reasons. Because of the perfect combination of performance, efficiency, and environmental protection compounded with optimized cost, the range can be offered as OEM product for systems suppliers or contractors.

Design

Heat Exchangers

Microchannel coils made from long-life aluminium alloys are the basis for a new line of condensers. One of the key advantages of Borrum heat exchangers is an extraordinary corrosion resistance: compared to the aluminium alloys used in most microchannel heat exchangers, new long-life alloy shows increased lifetime and reliability. Newly introduced coils provide low airside pressure drop and improved heat transfer due to the optimum combination of lowered fins, improved internal channel geometry, and high-volume headers. Another crucial advantage of microchannel coils is a drastic reduction of refrigerant charge – up to 70% compared with the systems based on finned-tube heat exchangers. These innovative lightweight coils also allow longer maintenance intervals and easy cleaning procedure.

Fans

Highly-efficient EC axial fans with impeller diameters from 400 to 800mm specifically developed and selected for Kaltra Borrum condensers offer low running costs and reduced noise emissions. EC fans are available in standard and uprate versions.  AC axial fans versions are also available as an option. Standard ranges of power supply voltages/frequencies can be amended upon customer request to meet local site requirements.

Construction

Epoxy painted, anodized metal frame and condenser body provide a reliable and rigid base of Borrum condensers. Versatile reinforced legs allow vertical or horizontal airflow orientation of a unit. Special quick access weatherproof enclosure for electrical components and controls.

Options

Kaltra offers a wide range of electrical, control, safety, and other accessories for new Borrum condensers. Special customized options are available upon request.
