Precision air conditioning system installed for Amtech, Inc.

Significant attention is currently being paid to improving building energy efficiency and reducing of environmental impact, as required by the recent European directives. In commercial and industrial buildings, a significant part of the energy demand is related to air conditioning systems.

When Amtech, Inc. recognized the need for a modern air conditioning solution for their contaminant-free premises, they turned to Kaltra as an expert with a solid track record of successful installations of precision air conditioning systems. Kaltra was contacted by the Amtech and provided with a request to design the system and supply the required equipment. Owing to the complexity of the project and subsequent changes to the original requirements, several site visits, and surveys were needed as well as ongoing consultations with the customer to ensure a smooth and trouble-free installation. Final system design has been provided showing precision air conditioning solution based on Lambda chilled water units along with details of all necessary components, project schedule, and costs. The proposed system included 20 indoor air conditioning units with dual power supply, the equipment for a redundant chilled water plant – two air-cooled Lightstream Screw chillers, each capable of producing 800kW cooling, and required pipework ancillaries, including pump station hardware. Design work also included a study to evaluate the annual energy consumption of the cooling system using computer simulations.

As a result of an upgrade, air conditioning system at Amtech provides an efficient and precise air control, and ensure no contamination of clean manufacturing areas. Compared to the original installation, the power consumption has been reduced by an average of 30%.
