Kaltra releases MCHEdesign – intelligent software support for microchannel heat exchanger design
Kaltra today announced the official release of MCHEdesign, an advanced engineering tool developed to assist in the design of microchannel heat exchangers. The new software introduces AI Mode, a powerful assistant that provides real-time recommendations, and Expert Mode, which offers skilled users full design freedom within the scope of Kaltra’s manufacturing capabilities.
AI Mode transforms the design workflow by analyzing user input, interpreting project requirements, and instantly proposing optimized coil configurations. It draws on Kaltra’s extensive design database to help engineers achieve the right balance of thermal performance, refrigerant compatibility, dimensional constraints, and cost-efficiency.
Expert Mode, on the other hand, gives experienced engineers the flexibility to fine-tune coil geometry, layout, and materials. This mode ensures full creative control while still remaining within Kaltra’s proven production possibilities.
MCHEdesign supports a wide range of applications, including the design of condenser coils, evaporators, and single-phase (fluid) coils, with both parallel-flow and serpentine layouts available.
- Key benefits of MCHEdesign include:
- Real-time design suggestions tailored to operating conditions.
- Optimization guidance that improves reliability and efficiency.
- Early identification of design errors or inefficiencies.
- Freedom to choose between guided AI assistance and full manual control.
“AI Mode acts like a trusted colleague, guiding users through complex design challenges, while Expert Mode provides professionals with complete freedom to explore advanced configurations,” said Lukas Engelhardt, Business Development Officer at Kaltra. “Together, these modes allow engineers to achieve optimal performance, reduce design time, and confidently experiment within the full range of Kaltra’s manufacturing capabilities. We designed MCHEdesign to make both routine and sophisticated projects faster, more precise, and more reliable.”
Looking ahead, Kaltra plans to fully integrate MCHEdesign with its selection tool, MCHEselect, in Q4 2025. This integration will create a fully autonomous platform for the design and simulation of microchannel coils, combining intelligent assistance with selection and validation in one seamless system.
With the release of MCHEdesign, Kaltra reinforces its role as a technology innovator, delivering not only advanced hardware but also digital tools that elevate engineering productivity and design precision.
