Air-cooled chiller Lightstream Screw Inverter Evo

Lightstream Evo chillers top the bill of data center’s cooling solutions

Following the launch of Lightstream Screw Evo air-cooled chillers in April, Kaltra announced the imminent launch of an inverter-driven lineup.

Lightstream Screw Inverter Evo will be available in 8 chassis sizes and outputs from 350kW through to 1750kW. Available refrigerants include R134a, R513a, and R1234ze (also with full heat recovery). The range boasts SEPR HT values from 6.10 to 6.72 and EER of up to 3.45, and offering its technology to a wide range of verticals with a strong focus on data center applications.

The product range is designed with 2 or 3 refrigeration circuits, one compressor per circuit, enabling stepless speed regulation from 13 to 100%. Similar to Evo family chillers with fixed-speed screw compressors, new chillers are equipped with twin-slab microchannel condensers.

Chilled water production is up to 25°C evaporator leaving fluid temperature, with allowable evaporator deltas of up to 15°C. Ambient air operating temperatures range from -20°C to 55°C (for units running on R1234ze). Configurations include three acoustic setups offering -2dB(A), -6dB(A), and -10dB(A) reduction in noise emission compared to base units.

The Evo series boasts new intelligent software that enables energy savings and precise outlet fluid temperature control, accurate up to 0.1 degrees, running on a high-speed controller. As for previous chiller generation, Evo series software includes basic sequence management functionality.

The unit design offers significant benefits in siting and installation, making Evo chillers easier to transport, handle, and position up to a fully plug-and-play solution.

Headquartered in Germany and Austria, Kaltra designs, develops, and manufactures air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and systems. The company offers air-cooled, water-cooled, and free cooling chillersprecision air conditionersIT cooling systems, including room-, rack- and row-based solutions, and energy management solutions. It also designs and manufactures air-cooled condensersdry coolers, and cooling units for special applications. Additionally, Kaltra offers microchannel heat exchangers for condenser, evaporator, and water cooling and heating applications, as well as aluminium coils for small cooling applications.
